I’ve said many times that one of the rules to visiting Portland, or living in the Pacific Northwest, is that locals never use umbrellas. Apparently, I was wrong. Turns out we do use them. Just not in the conventional manner. Truth is, I wonder if this guy even knows how to work the thing. But at least he owns one, which is more than I can say for myself.
Ahh, Portland. How I love you. And how I miss your rainy season…
That is too funny, Mark! Hilarious photo!
And it’s so ironic you posted this. I just got caught in a HUGE rain storm while walking home from the grocery store because I had NO umbrella! I was literally soaked through when I got home. I honestly didn’t care though, I love rain!

The first thing that popped into my mind upon seeing this was that photo from Vietnam where there is one or two guys riding in a truck cab that is powered by a water buffalo.

He would have more success keeping his head dry by holding his jacket over his head than using the umbrella this way. Maybe he was trying to be ironic?

Now, that would make sense. Ironic commentary on umbrella usage in the Rose City? I’m starting to think the kid isn’t just wet behind the ears, but secretly a genius!
